Meeting Liz Pichon

Recently Zach, Annabel and Miss Rodger went to the Auckland Writers Festival to hear Liz Pichon (the author of Tom Gates) speak. Afterwards she signed our
Tom Gates books for us.

Sketching

We have been learning how to draw still life with Mrs Olliver looking at size, space and shape. Look at examples of what we drew!

Tom Gates

Miss Rodger has been reading us the Tom Gates series by Liz Pichon.  Today for our quickwrites we had to write about Tom Gates for four minutes. I think Tom Gates is...

I think Tom Gates is funny because one if his songs from his band Dog Zombies is 'Delia's a Weirdo'. Delia is his sister who is pretty annoying and has a dodgy boyfriend. Also I think Tom Gates is very crafty and a cool person to have such a creative imagination because he loves doodling. Tom always tries to write bad things in Marcus' book (his enemy). He is always getting in trouble with Mr Fullerman.

I think Tom Gates is amazing because of his doodling that he does! The doodling that I like is when he draws from his imagination. Also he writes letters to his teacher but he signs them with his parent's signature. He also likes a girl called Amy Porter because she is very smart!

Sense Poems

At the Beach
I can see people playing volleyball in the hot steaming sun.
I can hear dogs barking in the sunlight as they chase balls.
I can smell dead fish on the dry, warm sand.
I can feel the cold breeze of the wind cooling my body.
I can taste the delicious ice cream spreading onto my tongue and in my body.

At the Sunnybrae Tryathlon
I can see people splashing in the water.
I can hear people cheering.
I can smell a lot of people sweating.
I can feel sweat running down my neck.
I can taste rainwater on my tongue.
